The Daily News. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 15, 1905. THE LATE MR GEORGE FISHER.
Tlie death of Mr George Fisher removed froin New Zealand pu'blic life one of its most prominent characters. In common with all sell-made men, he possessed indomitable will, which caused him to give fcurless ' expression in Parliament to his views ,on current questions. As a speaker, ■ he was for forceful utterances one of | tlie foremost, and his speeches were always listened to with great respect, even from those who differed from him in politics. Not the least I indication of his position and influence is the fact that at the hist general election he was returned as j junior member for Wellington City I without making more than one .| speech, and that a very short one. Although owing to various causes his inana of laic was not so potent ns of yore, his personality was one | of the salient features of Parliament- ;' nry life. The colony is all the poor- | er for his decease. I _»—______» I OS THE KOIKTU l'Atii:. ,j Literature.
