A. and P. Society.
A meeting of the general committee of the New Plymouth A. and l\ Society was held in the secretary's ollice on Monday niglil. Mr N'cvvton King presided over an at tendance of 18 committeemen. The -question oa accommodation ut the grounds occupied n good deal of attention. A sim-commillre was appointed to wuit on the Jockey Club at its next meeting to make a ropiest for certain conccsions in the direction of using thj grandstand, and ploughing up and levelling a ring two or three acres in firciii in front of the stand, on, which to hold competitions, etc. Other minor improvements and further accommodation will also he asked for Alessts S. Smith, H. okey. am , tun were appointed as „ suh-coui-nutteeto confer with Mr (Jovelt on the matter of the revision of the society's rules, and to submit a report thereon at next meeting. A discussion took place as to the best, methods of advancing the interests and scope of the Sociclv an-1 the secretary was instructed to' 'communicate with the various branches 01 the Farmers' I'nion hi Hie district, requesting tlioii- co-o)K-ration.
