METHODIST CONFERENCE.
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 13. The Methodist Conference was occupied all morning with the station . list. The recommendation Unit the Jtev. 1 F. Copland be taken from the Col- J lege and appointed to a circuit was : adopted by Hie Ministerial Circuit. The chief alterations by the stand- 1 ing committee in the second draft of stations were :—Birkenhead, Kev. W. i Wills ; Mahcrangi, Kev. C. Griffin ; Tuihupe, Kev. F. Copland ; Rich- 1 mond (Christchurch) Hev. G. S. Cook ; Mosgiel, Kev. A. C. Randerson ; Oamaru, Kev. L. lleiitson. After discussion an amendment was ■ made that Kev. Cook be appointed to North Shore, Auckland, and Kev. Wills to Durham Street, Christchurch. CLOSING OF THE CONFERENCE. The Methodist Conference agreed that a specfal committee be appointed to consider the status anil needs of the Maori ministers with the view of improving their position and of securing most efficient men for Muori work. Dur-I ing the discussion the Kev. J. W.j. Lewis said the Maori ministers werc i inadequately paid, and for some months of the year had to engage in other pursuits to eke out an existence. Authority was given to make an appeal during the year {or funds for training deaconesses for home and foreign work. The npxt conference will be held at Dunedin. The conference was concluded this evening with a mission meeting.
