FIRE BRIGADES BILL.

DEPUTATION TO SIK J. G. \VA[tl). (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, March 10. A deputation Irouv the Fire 15iigades' Association waited on Sir J. G. Ward this evening to urge that the draft of the Fire Brigades Kill approved of by tho Fire Brigades' Conference should be taken in haml by the Government, and passed into law during next session. Sir Joseph, in reply, referred to the strong feeling shown against the bill last session. He thought the Government would do its best to get the bill through this session. He drd not see why the evidence now obtained should not be regarded as sufficient, without going over the ground again. He thought the commonsense of the House would lead it to the same conclusion. He strongly favoured the bill. In the interests of Fire Brigades and of the country districts, sitae system was required. He would convey to his colleague, Mr Carroll, the opinion expressed by the deputation, and ask him to submit the matte (at the earliest moment to Cabinet.
