NEWTOWN LICENSING COMMITTEE.

L_«, _ POLO MEN WANT A BOOTH. BUT CONDITIONAL LICENSE IS REFUSED. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 3. The Newtown Licensing Committee to-day discussed an application for a conditional license for the polo ground at Miramar, on the occasion of the New Zealand Polo Association's tournament on March 16. Messrs Reid, McKeuzie, and Collcy, members of the committee, remarked that it was against the principles on which they had been elected to grant the application. The Chairman (Dr. McArthur, S.M.) remarked "That is, you arc not a judicial committee, but delegates 1" Mr McKcnzic : If a man is elected on a public committee, he is elected on certain principles. After further discussion the committee refused the application.
