i Rowley s Waxworks will oi>en this ;~« tor a brief season i„ he Inwatro Royal. Mr X{owJ „ l £ the course of his past, few years' i IV' ' "* lcd »'«ny novelties fo Lis ihow wh.ch Is one of the best of > !}U kind, and at the l ow chlu . eos -tor admission is sure to prove a tW draw. Among many oti>e figures are representations of the ■ Royal Family, the Right Hons. .}"- t seph Chamberlain and A J ij n l !Alrs Maybnck, also several aj. ; g Iho Flirt" and "The Wawler- ■ ers Return." There is also a eoss morania of Continental cities and ! ! M,° U ?f fr ,° m , th ? Kusso -J«l'«nese war. ( Uowlcy b,, n p tt c i ev e r company . with him, including Professor JJox- - | land whose wonderful electrical ap- , paratus is alone worth the price of ' l* d "f ?'° n J. Dante, the mysterious ■ wagician, Miss Ada Rowlev, ballad- . ist. Mr Ward Lear, mimic and comedian, and Mr Warsaw, baritone. . Among the attractions may also be ; mentioned the shadowgraph, and the living marionettes. ; Decidedly the most interesting foa- . ture of the exhibition is the marvellous X-rays apparatus under the control of Professor lloxlaud A isows representative hud the pleasure . of witnessing a private exhibition last evening, and was lost in wonder and udmiratlon at what was shown ;to him. The apparulus is the verv ; latest from London, is the only one of its kind that has come to the I colony, and is unnppronched for power and completeness by urn-thing jthat has been seen in 'this part 61 :the worhl. The high frequencv ai>jparatus is most interesting. Its ai>- | plication to those suffering 'from rheumatism, sciatica, and such like ailments is said to be magical in its effects. Although but recently in|treduced into medicine, this machine .has fairly established itself in professional favour at Home, and is coming into use in .the hospitals. Ity high frequency current is meant an oscillating current produced by the discharge of a condenser, the oscillations attaining a very | high frequency, amounting to hundreds of thousands per second. The electric discharge literally pours from the machine in long quivering streams of violet light, and when applied to the human body is absolutely painless. jMnny other novel effects are shown |by Professor Hoxlnml, but they must I be seen to bo appreciated. Another | interesting exhibit is a speck of radium, which can lw seen throwing I off its rays of light with untiring | energy. Altogether we think that oil who visit Mr Rowley's exhibition will not regret it. while those of n. scientific turn of mind will be both astonished and pleased.
