—*— UNVEILING A MEMORIAL AT TIMARU. (Per Press Association.) DUXEDIN. Feb. 23. 'The ceremonial unveiling oj? a memorial to the deceased troopers of South Canterbury took place this afternoon. The memorial consists of the figure of a trooper standing at ease. It is 6ft 6in "high, in white marble upon a solid granite die and base lOft high, above grey stone steps'. Suitable inscription and the names of 27 deceased troopers are engraved on the die. { His Excullency the Governor drew oB the veil, and made a brief sympathetic speech, nfilowing a longer addresU by the Mayor, Mr Craigie, who gave a patriotic resume of the .despatch of the and expressed sympathy with tho»e whose whose sons and friends had not returned.
