Smuggling Prosecutions.

- (Received Feb. 2, 9.23 p.m.) ) SYDNEY, Feb. 22, The Customs Department proceeded against ten Lascars belonging to the Orient steamer Orlona for smuggling walking sticks. Following the usual practice each brought a stick ashore and tried -to sell it in the streets. One was fined £5 and the other cases postponol pending an appeal to the Full Court. Counsel for the defence hinted that the prosecution was a counterblast to the mail trouble.
