DUNEDIN POLICE COURT.

ALLEGED SLY-GROG SELLING AND PERJURY, CASES DISMISSED.: (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Feb. 21. The charges of sly-grog selling were again before tho Police Court today. A consltalte named Ross and a probationer named Hull have been in ,thc city for some months 1 doing odd jobu for various firms, and in their Sparc tiini) keeping a 'lookout for .sly-grog selling. In the case of L. , Clancy, keeper of the Trocudoro, formerly Court's OUigo Hotel, the offence is alleged to have been com|iniUed' on Nov. 8 last, but sis it was not until the witnesses for the .Crown had given evidence that the | defence knew who were in the house at 'the time, adjournments were 'granted to enable the witnesses to ;bu hunted up. The defence to-day notified that attempts to lind the | person had proved i'uWle, and the Magistrate reserved his decision Clancy was tlien charged with sealing liquor on Dec. 2, Ross iwid Hall being Hie witnesses. Sainmel Kraetzer, private detective, was charged with perjurv in giving evidence in a case of trespass on racecourse. Kraetzer in giving evidence, had alleged that |Luby, who was then Iwing prosccut,<W, had been in Christchurch in November, and had acted as bookmakjers clerk.
