RECENT THAMES MINING ACCIDENTS.
I (Per Press Association.) i' THAMES, Feb. 20. |' Lupton, tile man who was injuml 1 by a premature explosion in the Kit- ' inula Reef mine, and had his face nnd head injured, is| now out of dan- 1 ger. It was at first thought that * he would lose his sight, but since , his admission to the Thames Hospital hj(« has made good prog less, 41 and his eyesight is safe. Otto, the mate of Henry Peploe, who was killed in the Mascotte mine near Thames, last week, is suffering severely from the shock caused by the death of his companion. The latter was killed outright in the shaft, and ' Otto did all that was possible under the circumstances. He ran three miles to where assistance was available, and returned with several lads. He then placed deceased's body in the bucket, which the boys wound ' to the surface. The mine is in an '' isolated position. '
