Exciting Incident at Onehunga.
AX INFURIATED BULLOCK. Thcra was quite a sensation on the Onehunga wharf on Saturday afternoon, nays the Herald, owing to a bullock rumwtg amuck. The animal had jusl been landed from the Hurawa. along with 30 others, when it :■ begun to play u|>. The bullock careered round the wharf, scattering bystanders in all directions, until he came across 1 a Mrs Tothill, who was wheeling a child in a ten perambulator. Wfth head lowered the brute charged, and * before anything could be done he had capsized the chfid out of the perambulator, and knocked Mrs Tothill' doyn- He next went in search of other Victims, but, fortunately, did ■ot rush down to the end of* thei wharf, on which a large crowd had congiegatod to vciw the championship yacht raCe. Instead, he dived off the w'harf, on the north side, and tb>! tide being in he made for Geddifc' ltasHn. Some boys in a boat attm.jted to head him ashore, at tht point near tho kiosk, but the hovine resented this interference - with hie programme, and the lads hastily paddled away. He soon after struck the muddy bottom, and again pul to sea, but tiring, headed a'or land near [he old coal wharf. At Ihla juncture the other cattle were driven round with the hope that he would come and rejoin them. This •ho refused to do, and untii a tall onlooker went out to bait him. This raised bis ire to such an extent that, although about done up owing to his exertions, the brute fought bis way up the heavy mud and made after the man). The latter got fcway safely, and the bullock was scr" cured by the drovers. With the exception of a shaking Mrs Tothiil got off without injury, but the child did not escape"*so well. The perambulator was broken up beyond repair. Altogether the incident was the most exciting experienced on the wharf for a long time.
