_ RETURNS SHOW A PROSPEROUS YEAR. a. (Per Press Association,) If. I, MiNEMN, Feb. 14. The annual session of the District If. Council of. the Independent Order of llcchabites commenced this morning, or | there being fifty-four representatives present. Uro. J. Whitnker, Now | Plymouth, District Chief Ruler, presided. The report showed that the rn dibtrict comprised thirty, male and four female tents, with a member'ship of 1051—an increase of 100 I since last meeting. One new tent had n . been opened at Petone. £3OO had c , v been paid in funeral money daring .the year. The various fund* were: h(> Funeral, £7255 Os 2d; contingent, hc '£2o6 Ids ; sick , pay, £148» 18* 8d ; : benevolent, £2ll 16* 7d ; juvenile, ml £91 2s sd; total £9224 10*. With ~. tent funds the total was £83,804 7* „- Ud—on Increase of £2844 0* 9d since 19 last report. The juvenile report id showed tho present membership to be 352. transferred 42, fund £291 4* n, 3d. The district visitors' report on as various tents was adopted, and coraa mittqes were appointed to revise the i's female and juvenile law*, and also to form a basis of union between ' the at Central and the New Zealand di»» 'ii- tricts.
