In view of the prospect of the introduction of motor waggons into the city, the council prepared an exceptional tratlic amendment liye-hnv, which, however, has to be confirmed before it conies into -force. This byuluw, which does not include motor cars or motor cycles, provides that no motor waggon may proceed at a speed of more than eight miles an hour in any part of the city, with reduced s|ie«l in more congested purts. Councillors John Luke, W. H. liar- ' ber, (!. H. Haylis, and T. Wnrdwj~ are mentioned as likely to contort the Mayoralty at the next election. , The Government has revoked the order stopping the sale of rifles from Government stores to muiulwrs of rifle clubs.
