«. (I'd- Press Association.) HOKITIKA, Feb. 8. At a mooting of'the Weslland Prospecting ; Association, resolutions were carried usging thp Government tp prosecute an active mining policy throughout the colony by giving monetary assistance to any legitimate scheme approved by the officers of the Mining Department. It was also decided to ask the County Councils of goldfields' districts to coo]>erate in carrying on an active agitation to the same end. The ltailway Ix?ague has carried resolutions asking the Government to carry out the expenditure of votes for railway works in this district, including a revival of work an the Koss railway, and urging .more expedition in proeeedure on the East and West Const line. Word war received to-dav that Mr T. Taylor, M.H.K., is unable, owing to indisposition, to attend the West Coast Temperance Convention, which opens here to-morrow.
