ROBBING A POOR BOX.
(Per Press Association.) AICKLAND, Feb. 8. Frank Hurley McGralh. a voting jinan, was; charged in the Police iCourt this morning with attempting ,to break open the lock of the poor- ; box at. St. Patrick's Cathedral. On the request of the police the charge was altered to one of attempting to ' steal from the poor-box. McGrath plated that he had been drinking a good deal and could reinemlh-r absolutely nothing uliout the affair. ' His Worship suid, "1 take that as ( | a very poor excuse." lit; added that people often tried to blame drink )vhen it was reajl.v an evil mind that Was at fault. It was a terrible thing ).o commit an offence of that charucser, and although McGrath was a jlrsl. offender he would be sentenced ' to 21 nays' hard labour. I
