» (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Fob. 7. A matter connected with the ap|>roaching Harbour Board elections was raised at the meeting of the uoard Inst night by Mr J, W. Philson, who said he thought it very undesirable lhat , the Government should appoint' members of Parliament to the board. He moved that n telegram be sent to the Premier requesting that the Government should not appoint members of the [louse as its representatives in connection with the coining elections. Phe argument had been used, he iaid, that members of the board who ivcre also members' of Parljament could thereby do a great dea| for the Jioard. But he thought members of Parliament could do just as much for them without being also members of the board. It was not Lo the interests of the board that two of its members should be absent from Auckland for our or five litonths.of the ytjar, and it was on this account that he moved his motion. As a consequence of the present, policy the scrvjees of a valuable man might be |o»t in the deliberations of the board, Members gnnirally agreed with Mr Philson's remarks, and the motion wus carried unanimously,
