FIRE OM A STEAMER.
(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Feb. 6. News by the Navua from Fiji tonight states that the A.1 1 .5.N. Co's steamer Maralla caught fire when alongside Suva wharf on January 20. Tho fire originated in the lamp room, and took some hours to suppress. The officers' and engineers' rooms on either side of the ship were completely gutted, and. tho bridge destroyed. The officers and engineers lost nil property, including nautical instruments, etc. The damage will necessitate considerable repairs before the steamer can resume running in the Fijj group.
