INVERCARGIILL, Feb. 7. There wero plenty of buyers and a large attendance of those interested !at the wool sales* to-day, at which ■5113 bales wore offered, one-lhird of which wcro passed in at auction ; 'but there .were numerous private deals, vendors realising that they could not get more by holding. There jwasa drop of a penny to twopence ,all round. 'Hie merino oflfcred was not high-class, and the prices were lower by a halfpenny. Halfhred was 3Jd down, the top price being ;10d, Super crossbred brought up to 10jd, as against Is OJd at the January sales; strong do. lOd, against Is o}d. Good to medium 'merino brought lOd to 9Jdk inferior 9d to Bd, hulfbred super lOd lo 9'd, good 9}d to B|d, inferior Bid to 8d;. fine crossbred IOJd to lOd, mfdiuni 9Jd to 9d. inferior BJd to |Bd, medium B|d to Bd, inferior 7Jd fo 6d. Tho bulk went to America and France, and but for local buyers prices would have been still lower*
