Mr I las-s-It, who peacefully away at his residence ill Powderham Street j West, where lie has lived since giving up lijs farm ait Wcstowjp, landed liji N&w Plymouth in 1841. Needless ( lo say, he took pgrt in all the rough and dangerous duties of settlers in those days. Ho also bore a lull share of the military risks of ,the times, for which he received the New Zealand medal. Mr Jiasgett, who was a native of Cornwall, ft. leading member of the Primitive MplhodWt Plturc-H. of which he was one of the original founders in the colony, anil one of the oddest J#, cal preachers l connected with that church .in New Zealand, lie was in '(.'very respect a model settler, and trap lygiariled with the highest estowii by nil vjto kficw liim;. lie leaves as descendant# thV'ec tutM and two daughters,,.
