N.Z. SHEEP FREEZING RETURNS.

Figures relating to the number ol sheep and lambs lulled by various sluugivU'rhouMjs and freezing companies of tlio colony during 1004 | have been supplied to the Department of Industries and Commerce by Mr Eichelbnuni, general manager for Now Zealand of Messrs Oppcniivim and Co., of New Vork. 'Rue numiier of sheep kilted in the South Island the chief coutifilmMim, to this number being Tiinani 1051882, Islington 131,080, lU'lfnst 86,557, Ashburton 77,0(55, and Wallacetown 44,254. 'J'his total .-allows a remarkable drop from the figures in J 903, when 1,070,151 sheep were slaughtered. Lambs killed in the South Island number 1,498,598, as against 1,064,533 ip 1903. Of this year's total Islington contributed 3{>7,440, Timaru 317,849, Uelfast 222,981, and Ashbupton 213,222, Hip (our Canterbury companies thus Recounting for 73 per cent, of the total. In the North Islaml 1,171,203 sheep were killed (a decrease of 320,852 on the 1903 Jigtires), of which the Gear Compunj accounted for the Wellington Aleut Export Company 350,015, Nelson 13|'(x>. (Touioana) J94,132, Oisbomc Freezing Works 156,241, and Nelson Hi'ob. (Gisborne) 120,297, being next. In tliis island 020,304 lmubs wo killed, the leading figures -being Wellington Meat Export Company 170,568, Gear Company iyy _ L UKi , Hi-os.
