LONDON WOOL SALES. (Received Feb. 2, 9.27 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 2. The wool sales closed above las week's prices. Compared with clos ing prices of the November sale medium Merinos were unchanged faulty and best, u hall-penny chcai er ; line crossbreds, unchanged ; loi grades 10 pur cent, cheaper ; lambs unchanged. During the sales 148,000 [bale were sold, 75,000 of which were fo home consumption, Continental buy !ers taking (5000, American 1000 I held over 5000. At the Honiubnsh sales cattle anc sheep were in good supply, and tin demand remained steady at lat< prices. Beef, 235. DUNEDIN STOCK SALES. (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Feb. 1. At the Burnside market 143 heat of fat cattle were yarded, mostlj good to prime beef. Prices did noi compare favourably with those o previous week's. Best bullocks brought £8 2s 6d to £9 ss, extra heavy to £lO 2s (3d, medium to good £0 15s to £7 17s 6d. Best cows £5 5s to £6 7s 6d, medium £4 5a to £5 10s, aged £3 10s to £4. Fat Sheep.—ls2B were penned, the greater portion being wethers. The sale opened level with last wcck.but towards the close the <emanrl eased and prices obtained earlier"-could not be secured. Best 20s to 22s (id, a few extra pens 23s fid to 245, medium to good 18s to 19s fid, best ewes 18s 6d to 20s 6d, medium 14s 6d to l«s fid. Pigs—l4l were yarded. Prices were higher for nil sorts. There was a large number yarded at Durham Yards on Friday, a-nd competition was keep. • Heavy draughts sold from £3O 5s to £4l 10s ; medium ditto £2O to £33 ;.ss; light' harness, £7 15s to £18; hacks, £6 10s to £l7 ss. A sulky 'realised £lO. A gig, pony and harness, £24. Cattle: At the Newmarkey Yards on Tuesday, dairy and store stocJc were i«?nned in large numbers, and sold at late rates. Beef, of which there was a good yarding with the exception of cows, of which there was an extra large entry, sold up to last week's rates. Oxen sold from £6 10s to £9 10s; cows, £-1 to£7 10s. Vtfry cows sold from £4 5s to £8 5S ; empty ditto, £2 Is to £3 17s ; calves, £1 3s to £2 7s. Sheep : The Newmarket Yards were well Idled on Tuesday. Wethers sxjltl from 15s fid to 19s 9d -; ewes 13s 9d to 18s 9d ; 'lambs, plentiful, sold from 8s to 14s 6d. Pigs : Porkers sold from 17s 9d to £2 Is ; weaners, 8s 6d to 15s. At W-arkworth on Wednesday we had a good muster of stock of all 'classes, which met with a ready sale. Grown steers sold from £5 2s fid to £6 10s ; two to three-year-old ditto, £3 5s to £5 5s ; empty cows, £2 to £3 12s fid > calves, )1 3s to £2 lis : beef at Newmarket rates. At Clevudon on Monday more than the advertised yarding came forward. HaP-ry cows sold from- £4 5s to £7 15s; empty ditto. £1 15s to £3 15s two to 23-yoar-old steers, £2 10s to £3 18s ; calves, 18s to £1 17s ; fat cows £5 to £5 10s ; sheep, of which a good number were brought forward, sold for full-mouthed ewes, 13 to 14s fid ; two-tooth ditto, 15s fid ; wethers, 16s ; lambs 10s. Oats : Stocks arc ljght locally, and prices firm, with an advancing tendency. Maize; Supplies still light. Price has advanced another penny. Potatoes : In fair inquiry, and arriving to- a good market. Good sorts worth up to £lO per ton. Chad : Good Southern in strong demand, and worth £5 10s c.i.f. Very Sttle local offered yet. - Butter : No change in price to report). Cheese : Firm week's quotations.
