French Family Tragedy.
STHANGE KEVELATIONS IN THE SYVETOX CASE. The facts leading up to the tragic death of 11. Syveton, who was 1 found asphxiatcd in his study, are gradually -becoming known. According to the Matin, tho late deputy entertained a strong affection for his .wife's daughter from an early period in his married life. When Mine. Menard cou'id no longer keep the j truth from her mother there was a painful scene between them, and M. Syveton was upbraided for his conduct ,in strong terms by the injured .Woman. Mine. Syveton determined, it is stated, to pet,it.ion for a divorce, and on December 7th the late deputy made a final but fruitless appeaJ to his wife to pardon him. On finding her olxluraite,, M. Syveton gave a broad hint that he intended Ito take his life, ami appear*'to have set about his preparations with great deliberation, his aim evidently being to make his death appear due to accident. Pote 1 , jthe late deputy's partner, presented I himself before the examining mf.gis.trate, and stated that M. Menard and -himself had expected the suijcide of M, Syveton twenty-rfour hours earlier. In answer to the magistrate he explained that it was within his iknowlcdge that M. Syveton could have been charged with causing the ruin of a young household.
