Mr George Stephenson is again to .'oo Now. I'lymouth theatre-goers as n entertainer. On Tuesday, Februry 7th lie will introduce his famous English Musical Comedy Company for the iirst time here at the Theatre loyal. Tile combination has ati acted considerable interest in Ausralin .since May last, and its renarkably successful seasons throughut New Zealand are safe augury or an equally enthusiastic reception here. The season is limited to hi-eo nights only, and the much heralded "Hose of the Riviera" will form the first musical production of the season. The piny has been favourably noticed by the critics of England and Australia, and has attained a vast popularity. In Sydney it ran for ten weeks to crowded audiences, whilst in Melbourne it enjoyed a prosperous run of eleven weeks at the Princess Theatre, Melbourne. Some months ago Mr Stephenson doputwl Mr I-Mward Lauri to proceed to England and select musical company and plays likely to please the critical Australian audiences. With what measure of success Mr Latin carried out this I task may be gauged from the popuority this company achieved in Australia. Miss May Beatty and Mr I Edward Lauri are already well known to New Plymouth audiences. Miss neatly has, according to rejports, delighted oven her most captious critics in the parts allotted to her. Most of the principles have graduated from one or another of George Edward's Gaiety Companies, and include amongst others Misses (May Garstang, Alice Nixon, Ada Pago, Messrs Charles MncNaughton, Fred Thortchin, Charles and Will Moris, and Roy Sidney. In addition to these there is a chorus aiid ballet of .">0 strong, and a full opera orchestra of 24 instrumentalists. The lans for the entire season will open t Mr Mclvinnon Bain's music wareouse, near Theatre Royal, on 'hursduy morning next.
