Curious Poisoning Story.
AIiLEGED I'HrGOIM; OF CAKE AND TEA. At the conclusion of the business at Brentford Police Court lecenllv, a well-dressed lady stepped forward and asked the magistrate's advice as to how she could prevent her sister drugging her father and mother with poisons. I She produced a (itiantily of bread End cake, which she told the court 'had been poisoned, as was also a bottle of lea which she handed up. In reply to Mr Montagu Sharp, she said that her sister would gain some jpecuniary advantage if her lather and mother were poisoned. She could not say what the poison was, but it was smeared on the food with a piece of linen. I'resscd by Mr Sharpe, the applicant stated that she was a doctor's .Wife, but she refused to put into writing what she had told the I'ench. She would, however, give lull particulars privately, as well as her name and address. Mr Sharpe said there appeared to be powder floating on the lea in the bottle produced. The applicant : My father and mother are over seventy years of age, and the ellect this poison has on them is to make them absent-mind-ed. J myself live in the same house, but I have never had any of the poisoned food or drink. Mr Sharpe said if the applicant cared 'to pay the fee the court would order the food to be analysed, and to this she at once agreed. The food was then carefully packed and Ifamled to Mi' Walter Tyler, the Middlesex County Council inspector, who was instructed to have it analysed antl report to the court.
