S. llan had a license granted to him at l'almerston North for which the usual fee had been paid a short time since, and 1 considered it would be hard if pressed to take out a local license. 1 The question of issuing a license • to Air Hart was referred to the Town '■ Clerk. > Cr. Collis brought up the question ' of the inspector reporting on- ; outbreaks of'disease outside the bor- • ough. The inspector pointed out that it would be advisable to define the area of operations. " Cr. Wood moved that the adjacent H local bodies be asked to appoint the council's inspector as honorary inf" • spector to report on cases of infectious diseases outside the borough. Cr, Fraser thought the motion did not go far enough, as) he did not consider it would meet the case of a milk vendor selling milk impregnated with disease. He pointed out that the health inspector had power to visit dairies, but the sanitary inspector had not. Cr. ClilT .-considered the inspector had quite enough to do already. Messrs..Magec and Jenkins' tender k tor the septic tank corresponded with L ,'jthe lump sum. He asked for authority to lengthen the iron t shoot at the crusher. Cr. Wilson "pointed out the large amount of traffic on the road, espe- , cially to the waterworks, and' he strongly urged that the road should bo metalled and not closed. The Mayor said there was about . £l2llOO lo spend till March, and it would not be a serious thing for the council lo be £2OOO in debt at the close of the financial year. Cr. Ahier said that after hearing the Mayor's promises he would show his faith by withdrawing his motion ' now that it had served fits purpose. . ' he. jlluyor. promised .to bring down ; l , lu ' Nl meeting a Scheme prepared by. himself; and< the engineer for the expenditure'of £2OJIO. —Fast Fjid Kalhing Heserve. •, Cr, Wood, pursuant to noTice. movA 1 to rtscind the refusing lo entertain the question 'of aisisting the Eart Rnd bftthjng reserve coin- ( mi (tee .with' a grant until promised subscriptions were paid.
