ACCIDENT ON THE MOUNTAIN
DAHGEB OF WARM DATS. The danger of venturing above the snow line on Mount Kginont during warm weather following a cold snap received a terribly practical exemplification on Sunday. A party from New Plymouth had gone up from tiw Mountain House, and above Humphries' Costle, when they tjot into tiie Know. A hurricane of wind was blowing at tho Mmo, and this combined with the offset of the warm sun, produced something in the nature of an avalanche, mum/, I stones,l and dHiris being hyrlod down the mountain sidu in a terrify, jing maimer. The party were caught in this turmoil, and one member, Mr Maunders, employed in the New {tealand r Clothing: Factory's local bi anch, was si ruck on the temple by a stone, receiving very severe injuries. A wound of considerable proportions wan inflicted on the A mesaeugcr was despatched to the Mountain House for aid, and a stretcher ami restoratives . were requisitioned and sent up. Tho injured man was carried down to the house, there placed in a cab wtrfch jhad arrived with i party from town, and driven into New Plymouth to receive medical treatment.
