THE EXHIBITION.

The Children's Day, Saturday was " Childrein's Day " at the exhibition, the attendance again being very large. The various side shows were freely patronised. Great interest was taken in tho sports hold in the evening. Tuesday will see the curtain rung down on the exhibition—at least so far as the public is concerned. Sir Joseph Word has promised to attend th'd closing ceremony, 1 which will be held in tho evening. A late train will run to Hawera. A novel idoa will be carried out in connecr tion with this ceremony*, as all the stall-holders will appear in fancy costumes, asi well as many of tho general public. Present indications arq that the function will be one of *ho most successful hold in the exhibition,. AN APPRECIATION. The Mayor, Mr 11. Cock, n s President of the Exhibition Executive, received thoi following letter from tho Premier on Saturday :—Dear sir,— Permit me to tender to yourself;. Mr Goodacre, and your committee the warmest thanks of Mrs Seddon, myself, and famijy for the kindness, courtesy, attention,, and hospitality shown to us during our stay in New Plymouth, >anid again to express our very great pleasure at the completeness of your exhibition, which, lam sure, will prove a lasting benefit to New Plymouth and the Tarairaki district. Our one regret is that our time and stay with you was so short.; At tEo same time I beg to assure you wo siliall ever have pleasant recollections of our visit, and trust that financially the result of the exhibition will bo entirely satisfactory, and commensurate with tho foretlioug'hti, energy, and enthusiasm that has been expended. It is to be sincerely hoped the public wfll fully appreciate your strenuous efforts on their behalf.—Bel'leve me etc.,. 11, J. SEDDON."-
