Bennett, his Worship the Mayor has received the following letter from Bishop Ncligan : "Bishop's Court. "Auckland, Jan. 'J, 1905. "Dear Mr Mayor. ■Y I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of yours of sth inst., conveying to mo the resolution of a meeting held in New Plymouth on 4th. So I aim in receipt of a newspaper of sth, containing a report of the meeting. lam glad to find from your Jotter and the newspaper that Mr Bennett's* work in Taranaki is so highly value*, and that the people of New Plymouth are so interested in the evangelisation of the Maori people. This knowledge gives me hope that thq work of the mission, will receive constant support from the i>eoplo of New Plvmouth m the futuite. Mr Bennett's resignation of thb Taranaki work for other important work in the diocese of Waiapu necessitates a change in the worker in the Taranuki mission, but not in the work. You and the friends of the Maori people at New Plymouth, will bo glad to know ihnt Mr Bennett's acceptance 01 work in another diocese will not permanently interfere with mission work in this diocese. Tins knowledge will, I venture to hope, secure a continuonco of financial support from the people interested in the ? I ?*u , ? - Tr I httve thQ honour to remain laithfully yours, *" M.R., Auckland."-
