NOT A WHITE MAN'S PARADISE. SYDNEY, Jan. 6. A despatch from the Colonial Secretary of the Straits Settlements state there is no employment for white men there and no chance of doing anything. EDUCATION SYSTEMS COMPARED. SYDNEY, Jan. 7. The Education Commissioners have issued an interim report on commercial and technical education. It deals with the systems in vogue on the Continent; and elsewhere, but in view of a fuller report makes no definite recommendations. COMPANY EXPLOITATION. PERTH, Jan. 7. The report of thd Royal Commission in connection w.ith the Great Boulder Perseverance Mine is a lengthy document. It finds that it has been the policy of the directors to religiously prevent any information regarding the working and the true position of the mine becoming known, and keeping many important matters from the knowledge of the shareholders. It would appear that the chairman of directors (Mr Frank Gardner) and sqmc of the directors have throughout advanced their own interests, and shown an utter disregard of the interests of shareholders. The report makes a recommendation for preserving the interests of shareholders in the mines and preventing a recurrence of the abuses disclosed by the inquiry; SUEZ CANAL CHARGES. 1 LONDON, Jan. 6. « The Daily Mail states that the Suez Canal reduces t'he dues live per cent, per ton in 1906.
