WANGANUI, J a n, 5. At the Educational Institute today a long* discussion took place on the question of superannuation. Sir T. T. Henderson moved : "That no scheme of superannuation will be acceptable to teachers unless it places teachers on at least as good a footing, as regards premiums to be paid and benefits received, as railway employees." Mr Wm. Davidson moved as an amendment : "That a general recommendation should bo made to the executive to endeavour to secure a superannuation scheme on the most favourable terms possible." The amendment was carried, and the Council then went into committee. On resumption the following motion was adopted : "That the executive wait on the Minister for Education and ask him, in the interest of teachers, to redeem his promise to introduce a liberal scheme of superannuation early in the forthcoming session."
In the evening the question of procuring an oflicial organ Was considered, and it was resolved that the time had not yet arrived for the institute to be the proprietor of an o Hie in 1 organ, but that the executive obtain control of a certain number of columns in one of> the educational papers at present published in the colony and appoint two numbers of the institute to be editors of those columns.
It was l-esolved that (lie council suggest to the Inspector-General that code words instead of code numbers should in future be employed in all examinations held by the Education Department.
