BANKS IN SERIOUS EMBARRASSMENTS. A YANKEE HUMBERT CASE. NEW YORK, Dec. 2. One American bunk has failed, and several financiers are embarrassed, owing to the enormous loans advanced on a specious story by a borrower that she bad a million worth of securities in a certain bank. Steps are (being taken to compel their production. The borrower is the wife of Chadwlck, a reputed millionaire physician of Cleveland, Ohio. She denies being identical witji Lydia Dever, a hypnotist who was convicted for forgery, and whom alw closely resembles.
