There was a prolonged discussion at a meeting of the University En. dowment Fund Committee as to whether £3OOO of the money in hand should be given to the University Council to enable it, with the grant of £2OOO from the Government to proceed with the erection of buildings for a chair of physolagy in connection with the medical school lhe money had been raised by an appeal to the public, £2IBB bein' S>°l™}°l h V be I>aily Tilnes "<"l £1394 by the committee. A motion was submitted to accede to the request of the University Council for a sum not exceeding £3OOO. Mr G Fenwick doubted whether thev were entitled by the trust to grant money which had been collected to place the finances c-n a sound footing by the lihfiidation of the ddbt co the university, and ho moved that a decision be deferred until the an opportunity of consulting wath subscribers.
