London cables announce the death of Viscount Ridley and the Earl of Hardwicke.
Her Majesty Queen Alexandra celebrates the sixtieth anniversary of her birt'h to-day. Mr Hugh Gillies, president of tho Manawatu and West Coast Agricultural Association, is in town, and will act as judge ini the blood horse class at the show.
Evidently the borough council is not rich in horticulturmlists, for some difficulty was experienced last night in getting together a committee to draw up a report on what weeds should be declared t 0 be noxious weeds within the meaning of the act. Finally Councillors Clitf, Fraser and Brown were appointed.
