Accidents and Deaths.
(Per Press Association.) WESTPORT, Nov. 30An accident occurred at tho Railway Workshops. Roderick George Chisholm, a son of Constable Chisholm, anil oil apprentice in the workshops, stepped 1 backwards in front of an engine, and was caught by the cowcatcher. His left foot was almost ground to a pulp, a nd had to bo above the ankle. At Millerton Mrs Elizabeth Keepin, 33 years of age, swallowed on Saturday a dosei of acid in mistake for Epsom salts. She lingered cm till yesterday morning', when ahe passed away. She was a married woman, witih no family, TAIHAI'E, Nov. 30, A load of timber drawn by two horses was crossing a tram bridge over the Hautapu River at Utiku, when the bridge cantod clean over. The torses ajiid timber fell a complete drop of 200 feet, and were dashed to pieces., The men who were with the load managed to save themselves by clinging to a wire rope overhead.
CHRISTCIIURCH, Nov. 30, Hugh Mcllraith, a well-known early settler air Canterbury, was found dead in bed this moniing. Heart disease was the cause of death ItfVERCAKGJLL, Nov 80 James Stirling, son of a farmer at bouth Wyndhnm, was found drowned in the river this afternoon. The iiody was fully clothed, except for the coat. It is not known how it ffot into the water.
