orphan child of his niece, to perform a skirt dauce in a cage containing lions, William Handcock, a show proprietor, was at Barnstable fined £2 and costs. Tho girl, whd Is under fourteen, was said by Handcock to bo so fond of lions that she would entep the cage out of childish fun when he was out oi the way. A further fine of 10s. onid costs was imposed for allowing the child to dance outside of the show. In handing over tlie money the showman remarked that ho could •" huy tho lot on the Bench,"
