Star-Bowkott Societies con neither receive money as deposits nor borrow in any way. Their Mules expressly state that thoy will not avail themselves of the borrowing powers permitted under tho Building Societies' Act. It will, therefore, readily be seen tihat this is a great source of strength, as such a society can have absolutely n 0 creditors' outside its own members, and with these it has a definite contract as to the condition of their membership. It will thus bo apparent that In time of financial stress such a society occupies a very strong position. The Equitable Building Society of New Plymouth, which is worked undar this system, is now. issuing a second group oif shares. The list Is open at tie Society's office, Currio Street. *
