The Standard's Che-100 correspondent says that the capture of the inner circle of the Port Arthur defonces was a magnificent piece of work, involving careful sapping and mining. When the breach was made in the lfirlungshan fort the troops obtained a sheltered footing, and a heavy bombardment opened in all directions.
The Daily Mail reports that General Yatamoto was killed. THE TOWN IN RUINS. JAPANESE NOW COMMAND THE i WHOLE TOWN. (Received Nov. 9, 1.1 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 8. i French newspapers state that the [town of Port Arthur is a heap of ruins, no building remaining intact. Only 4000 men of the garrison aire available for duty. It is reported at Cho-foo that the Japanese havo captured Teolangsihan Hill, commanding the whole town of Port Arthur.
