Six Men Drowned.
WARSHIP'S BOAT'S CREW LOST ' OFF KAWAU. '■ ' AUCKLAND, Nov. 7. ' ; On Thursday last a whaleboat ' Lelongina to H.M.3. Penguin, engag- i: od on surveying duties, capsized off ' ivawau Island. The following lost ' ' their lives -.—Lieutenant Edden, Sea- : men Joseph Power, Joseph Brooks, ' Jaines Richardson, Albert Grant and Ernest I'usey. A search purty '' the following day found portions of < the wreckage, and on Saturday at noon the boat was found nine miles from Uio scene of tho accident. It was Mowing hard from west by ',' soulh on Thursday afternoon, and, '■ it is presumed the boat was t'rying to return to tho ship under sail and got takon aiback by a sudden squall off Kawau Island and capsized. In the sea running at the time the men had little chance of saving their lives, as tho boat (found bottom up) gave no hold.
