o——— POLICEMAN SHOT DEAD IN A' SEVEN HOURS' SIEGE.
BOSTON, Sept. 5. Miss Minnie McKenzie, aged thirtyfour, who is very muscular, became suddenly insane on Sunday, iiitagining that enemies were attempting to injure her three children. She tried to drown her baby in a bath, and was discovered watching its death struggles.
Then due fii-ed three shots with a revolver at hor husband and barricaded herself in the house. Armed witih two revolvers she continually fired and held at bay twen-ty-four policemen and a crowd 0 f 5000 persons. One policeman was killed by a bullet, and .another badly wounded.
After a siege of sovea hours the police finally approached the house behind iron sheeting and with mat tresses tied round their .bodies. They injected germicide through the door and the fumes rendering {he woman unconscious, she was captured and conveyed to an-asylum.
