Baptists in Conference.
(Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Oct. 24. At the Baptist Conference a sclieme lor improving the positions 01 ministers and raising their status, and providing jnanses, was submitted. jAi'ter discussion, a committee was BHPointod to confer with ,the Finance .Committee of the Hanover Street church, and report if such is possible during; the present session.
The Hevs. Parkins, 11. Sinclair Mason, Charles Boyle, and E. M. Kirk,wood were accepted as ministerial Hfif#tbei's of the Union. A motion to inaugurate a New Zealand Baptist Total Abstainers' Society was lost, also a motion to alter the constitution to permit of tile appointment of lady delegates. In the evening a discussion took place' 011 the relation of the church to money and labour. DUNEDIN, Oct. 25.
The business to-day dealt mainly with missionary work. At the mission luncheon addressee were given by Revs. Hewitson (Presbyterian), W. Sanders (Congregational), and W !A. Sinclair (Methodist), trv —TJn resuming the ltev. After discussion, in which it ,was pointed out that there was no indication as to how the Presbyterians would regard the matter, the motion was withdrawn.
