Hawke's Bay show.
(Par Press Association.) ' NAPIER, Oct. 30. At the Hawke's Bay A. and P, Sooiety'a show to-day the championship for thoroughbred horses was awarded to the Hon. J, D, Ormond's Sir Launcelot, and champion hack to Miss Yolando Sunderland's Mahomet. In pigs the championship for Borkfthip boar went to Messrs Slack Bros., and for Berkshire sow to E. White; champion Yorkshire boar, Ambrose Wcllwood ; champion Yorkshire tow, E. White ; champion 'lamworth uow, Nelson Bios. ; any other variety of purebred pig (champion boar), John Jarvis. The leaping match was won by H. HassalL's Pickpocket, Mrs Sunderland's Tho Sinner -l|e)ng second, land H. T. F. Carlyon's Casrmir thh-d. The leading and jumping competition was won by the East Coast Mounted Rifles, the Hawke's Bay Mourned Rifles beng second, and Manaw a tu Mounted Rifles third. The handicap wood-chopping competition was won by C. A. Jierkahn (25sec), W. Beck (SOsec) second, and C. A. Christeason (55sec) third. Time, Omin 25 2-ssec. . The weather proved fine, although very tlircatening in the morning, and the attendance was almost (feual to the second day last year, probably over 10,000 people being on the ground.
