Christchurch City.

(Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 10. The City CounHil to-night adopted a recommendation from the sanitary committee not to erect a fish market, owing to the absence of power to compel selling there. It was decided that the (lovernment be asked to amend the Municipal Corporations Act so that municipalities may have power to erect fish markets and compel all fish to be sold at them. A proposal to as?k the Drainage Board to complete the sewerage of the city was postponed. The Mayor suggested the establishment of workmen's homes on council, reserves, expressing a hope that the matter would be taken up later.
