MYSTERIOUS SHIPS.
THOUGHT TO BE RUSSIAN MEN-O'-WAR. WATCHING FOR CONTRABAND. SYDNEY, Oct. 7. Naval circles believe t'mat the mysterious vessels belong to the Rus—3i4Q, volunteer fleet., and are on the contraband aboard Australian trailers to the East. 11.M.5. Pyladew will reach the spol on Monday, and has been instructed to telegraph the result of her investigations iumirdiately. 11.M.5. Cadmus sails, this morning to warn tilt Russians that they must not coal at Thursday Island. BELIEVED TO BE A HOAX. (Received Oct. 8, 1.20 a.m.) BRISBANE, Oct. 7. The cruiser scare is beginning to be regarded as a hoax.
