Supplies are moderate. Tallow—l'rime mutton £25 10s, prime mixed white and coloured £22 5s The demand is brisk, and shippers are operating. BURNSIDE STOCK SALES. DUNEDIN, Oct. 5. Fat Cattle.—l 49 weie yarded, principally medium and light bullocks af lair quality. Last week's prices were -maintained, 'but unfinished 'lines were easier. Fat bullocks £lO 5s io £ll 12s 6d, medium £9 to £lO, light £7 5s to £8 ss, best heifers £7 5s to £B, extra prime up 10 i£9 2s Gd, medium £5 15s to £0 I 15s, light £4 10s to £5 10s. i Fat sheep.— 2212 were penned, 0 f which cniy about 100 were ewes. The demand was not so good as a*t week's, and prices were one selling per head easier. j DUNEDIN GRAIN MARKET. DUNEDIN, Oct. 5. Wheat.—The market is firm, although few sales of any consequence are taking* place. Prime milling has much inquiry, but t<hle bulk: offering is o®ly of medium quality, which is not in demand. Fowl wheat has a fair sale for local consumption, but prices are too high to induce much coa'ital shipment. Oats.—"A" grade and prime milling, as well as seed lines, have some attention, but the demand for feed is small. Horses.—At the Durham yards oil Friday we had a large entry, with a good demand fo)' draughts and good working sorts. Heavy horses sold fiom £2fi J.Os to £42, medium do. £2l 15s to £35, hacks and light harness horses £lO 10s to £22. A horse, gig, and harness realised £ls, spring cart £\l4. At Warkworth on Wednesday there was a large muster of stock., more than the advertised number coming forward. Dairy cows sold from £4 I.os to £7 : empty do. £2 10s to £4 2s, grown steers £0 5s to £7 Is, two to three year old do. £2 17s fid to £5 15s, yearlings £1 tils' to £2 Bs. lleef at Newmarket rates. On Saturday we held a special sale of horses at I'apakura. There was a good yaiding, but the quality :hro»shout , with few exceptions, was verv poor. Useful farm horses •old from £22 to £Bl Ids ; no hoavy draughts entered. Plough horses £2O to £29, other clatsos at Durham ya"d rates.
On Monday we Irfd a special sale of dairy cows at I'apakura, when there was a good yarding. The cows were somewhat backward in conditin, owing no doubt to the very bad weather experienced lately. Dairy cows close to profit sold from £.'s to £8 lOsl. backward do. £4 5s to £5 15s. bulls £4 10s to £7 ss. Cattle.—At the Newmarket yards on Tuesday dairy and store stock were penned 1 in larger numbers than usual, and sold at late rates. Although there were no heavy weights the quality of beef was goad. We quote ox up to 27s per 1001t), cow 19s to 225; fat steers from £0 5s to £ll 17s Cd, cows £4 10s to £8 12s fid, dairy cows £5 5s to £8 17s Cd, empty do. £2 17s to £4 4s, grown steers £5 5s to £6 10s, calves £1 7s to £2 lis. Sheep —The Newmarket yards were well filled on Tuesday, prices being scarcely up to last week's quotations.
