Recreation Grounds.
ORDINARY MEETING OP THE BOARI). The Recreation, U founds Hoard met last evening, when there were present Messrs (!. W. Govofcb (chairman), W, L. Newnian, F. P. Coikill, W. A. Coliis, and R. Cock. Aa application from the New l'l.viiioull) Cricket L'lub for the use of the grounds for practice up to carnivul week was grunted conditionally. A deputation from the Carnival Committee, headed by Mr Hal. Uoodacre, waited on the board ami asked for the use of the grounds for swimming, chikli-en's and athletic sports for tluui days during the carnival week.
The board resohied to grant the use of the grounds to the Curnival ComiiiiUec, unconditionally: Application was also made that tlie board clean out Uio big lake, and lot the water off, but t * board could not sec its way to grant this request. It wus decided that the floral fete usually hold on November Oth be abandoned for this year, so as not in any way to interfere with, the carnival.
