Oakura.

(From Our Correspondent.) —Road Board.— The board held its usual monthly meeting on Saturday night, Mr Were presiding. All members were present. It was agreed to overdraw from the bank to the extent of £7O. The discussion on the halfpenny rato was held over because of a printer's error in the notification. Much indignation was expressed by the members at the Stock Department using a paddock opposite the hotel as a depot for diseased cattle. Diseased animals have sometimes been kept there for three days at a time. It was agreed to draw up a petition l to be forwarded to Wellington, protesting against such depot. Mr Were reported on trees on the Koru Road, and Mr Looney on the repairing of the school road. Accounts amounting to £35 17s 2d were passed for payment. —General.— Mrs West has had a serious! attack of pneumonia, but is now improving. | The dance on behalf of the funds of the Farmers' Union was a success, and the funds have received a much needed increase. Much sympathy is felt with Mr and Mrs W. Honeyfield in the accident which has happened to their five-year-old son Rex. It seems his elder brother was running towards him with a knife in his hand, while hig brother) was running to meet Mm. A and'the tered Rex's eye. It is feared the sight is lost.
