Stallion Parade.

Owing to the unfavourable condi-| tions under which the first stallion parade was hold, the Agricultural | Society decided to hold another, this eventuating on Saturday last, when the weather, though threatening in tho early morning, cleared up at half-past eleven o'clock, the hour fixed. Eleven horses, four of them draughts, were mustered at Mr J. W. ; West's stables in Egmont-street, wnence'they proceeded by way of Dovon-gtrctt to the saleyards, where a large number of farmers, breeders

and others were gathered, freely criticising the entrants as tp quality and usefulness. Tho parade was representative of the class of stock owned in the district, as with the exception of one or two fro.m outlying districts, whose owners were disinclined to face the weather, n H tho horses travelling this season were present. As is natural in a com-

munity such us this the draughts nttractod the most attention, and their merits and demerits were keenly canvassed. The draughts shown were Mr Looney's three-year-old' bay General Grant, Mr 0. Cope.stick's hay Lord Dalrymple, Mr Home's bay Loid Roberts, mind Mr C. Kyndon's black Glasgow Willie. Though all the horses were of excellent stamp, tho latter seemed to catch the general eyy more perhaps' than tho others. Tho work to which he has been put evidently improving him. The majority of the lipM horses werp trpttcj's, amongst tnem being Mr W. Buckle's chestnut Jersey, Mr C. Arden's black Viktng, Mr L. . Love's brown Berlin Abba, and his' half-brother, a. bay colt by Judge Bellden, and Mr C.

Tapp's bay Tip Top. Mr A. E. Stockman's The Czar was also shown, whilo Mr J. West's chestnut Lord Kitchener was a, worthy representative of the roadster class. Of the light horses, Lord Kitchener looked particularly fit and well, coming in for a good deal of favourable notice.
