Exhibition Committee.

It was decided to hire, j 'J 1m: question of advertising was then discussed, and the names of j Messrs Jones, Pritchard and Uoss I were added to the advertising com- j mittee. The resignation of Mr (i.l W. Henderson was' accepted with re-' gret, Mr C. M. Innes ibeing elected a member. Mr W. K-. ll o lmes, of] Aucklund, who was secretary of the exhibition recently held there, living agreed to act as agent, tne secretary was authorised to proceed to Auckland to arrange mutters. Mr H. J. Allen, tho Wellington ag«nt, reported on the atl-ange-ments he had made in regurd to local advertising. Considerable discussion took place on the of providing music, Mr Okey, ' (he chairman of tho musical committee, j reporting that owing to the lack ol a suitable hall in the exhibition, i they wece unable t 0 arrange ony concerts therein, tout a very Httrnc-j live programme of outside utilise-' nients had been, prepai-ed. Various: schemes were suggested, but ultimately the matter idi'oppod, pending u further report from the sub-corn-, mittee. The question of arranging for a representative i n Stratford was le/t to the secretary. A recommendation j>y tho building committee that, tho right-of-ways and courts ulone lx.i aspluitlwl auu tarred, was adopted. Mr Jones suggested introducing " shooting the shute," a form of excitement much in favour in America and elsewhere. The idea was favourably received. Mr Cock stated it was possible Mrs McGregor, " of Maxwelltown, would lend her valuable collection of Maori curios.
After the exhibition committee muolinlg, tho executive met, when £75 was voted to tho children's carnival committee. Messrs 1 1 oo'.l.uw. Ross, Dockrill, Amlniry aid Skinn«r were appointed a deputation I to wait on the recreation .board in reference to cleaning out the lakes. Mr Skinner moved " That the executive committee request Mr W. Gray (of Okata) to convoy to the Ngati'haupoto feupu of Tarareakl their deep sympathy at tlve 1 0 S3 sustained by the tribe in the death of their leader and chief Te Kahui Kararele, of Rahotu ; and further, this committee demro to place on record their appreciation of the great assistance rendered toy the late Te Kahui in tho preliminary arrangements of the exhibition., especially the organisation of tho Maori village scheme, into which work he threw all his enjergies and persuasive eloquence, and to tho success of which he looked forward to with the greatest interest." Thia, seconded by Mr li. Cock, wag carried unanimously. Messrs Brown, Ross and Jones were appointed a committee to deal with the "shooting the shute " suggestion.
