CANTERBURY v. WELL! NO TON. (I'pr Press Association.) CHRISTCHORCH, September 11. The Canterbury-Wellington hockej match, played at Lancaster Pari yesterday, resulted in a win for tiht home team by live goals to four. The teams were : Wellington—Cioal keeper, Preston ; backs, Pierson ami Spiers ; halves, Smith, Campbell, Reid ; forwards, Allen, W. Davis, Hickson, ti. Davis, Smythe. Christ-uhurch—Goal-keeper, and Campbell ; halves, Seeker, Schmidt, Sniith ; forwards, Rankin, Harrington, lilackwell, Free Hall. The ground was very heavy, wa tor lying on the surface in places ; but the gome was fast. Wellington opened with a strong attack, and in fifteen minutes shot three goals, \\. Duvis, liickson, and Smytlie acoi iing. Up to this point the local men appeared to be hopelessly (beaten ; , but rallied well, iaml after one. or two attempts Rariki n scored. An other concei-ted russli ended in Five fin/ding the net. Canterbury began well in the second Hpell, keeping the visitors hand pressed ; but some very oasy shots were missod. Finally, 1 Hack well scored twice, and Hale, after missing throe chances, got one in, putting Canterbury two ahoad. A smart rush by the visitors gave 0. Davis a chance, oi which he took advantage ; but. plaj was soon back in the visitors' garters and remained there till the cali of time. Among the Wolling-ton players Spiel's, Pearson, Preston and Campbell were most prominent, the last-named feeding his forwards excellently. Campbell, Seeker and Smith wore the best of tho Canterbury backs, and the forwards all played well when fairly started.

Tho amount? were accused's own recognisances of £IOO, and two sureties in th'O saijie amount.
