A New inter-Colonial Steamer.
Tho new steamer Wimmera, built for the Hulddart-Parker Company, was launched at Greenock on August 19 by Messrs Caird and Co. She is a sister ship to the Victoria, being 350 foot in length and about 30Q0 tons register, and is touilt Of steel, Powerful engines ore to be installed, and it is expected that a speed of 15 knots will bo easily attained. She will have all the latest and most improved oqluipmcnts for tho sia-foty and comfort of tho passengers, and will be lit by electricity; while <u>ecial attention will be paid to appliances for the rapid discharge of cargo. Tho Wimmera is expected to arrive in Australia about November. It has toeen definitely decided, that tho vessel is to replaco tho Victori a in the New Zenland, Hobart, Melbourne, and Sydney service, the latter steamer going iftto tho Sydincy-Aucklanid-Ncw Zealand coast trade. Either the Westralia or the Zealandia will bo withdrawn from the New Zealand run, tout it lias not yot been decided which it will be.
